How to take care of your skin has always been a much-debated subject. And there are numerous myths related to skin care, which many people fall for.

So here are three common myths about skincare, which ought to be debunked:

  1. Antibacterial soap is the best solution for keeping your skin perfectly clean – this is false because keeping bacteria off your skin is impossible. Dermatologists advise that using antibacterial soap for a long period could lead to the appearance of bacteria that is resistant to antibiotics, and will not improve acne. Instead, opt for a gentle cleanser.
  2. Being tanning is healthy–most people consider tans to be a sign of healthy skin, but this is not true. Although sunlight helps us to make vitamin D, which is essential for bones and the immune system, tanning increases the risk of skin cancer.
  3. If you have oily skin, you do not need to use moisturizers – Many cleansers, especially those targeted to oily skin types, strip oil from the skin. A light moisturizing serum, gel or cream is beneficial for oily skin types.   For more on taking care of your skin look at https://www.elevatedderm.com/.
